If you’ve been keeping up with me, you’ll know that I love trying out products in lifestyle, fashion, and beauty. Starting fresh in 2019, I embarked on whitening my teeth away from my dentist’s office with at home treatments with charcoal powder (yes, charcoal!) and customized teeth whitening trays (you can read more about that in my recent blog post). Now that we’re into a new decade and a new year, of course I wanted to maintain my sparkly teeth and not let all of my efforts in 2019 go to waste. I drink black coffee with a dash of almond creamer every morning, I love my Nero d’Avola (red wine!), and I’m a sucker for tomato based sauces, which are all terrible for staining teeth. Unless I’m consuming only water, gin and tonic, and beige foods, teeth whitening treatments are on my agenda. So, how do I keep a brilliant smile?
This blog post is all about a new treatment that I recently discovered, tried, and painfully loved! I visited Nova Teeth Whitening for “high-end laser teeth whitening in a relaxed setting.” I upgraded from charcoal to laser!
Here was my initial thought process: charcoal was a messy powder toothpaste; customized teeth whitening trays for at-home treatments while effective, require two lengthy months of regular whitening for at least 45 minutes per session; and laser teeth-whitening range only from 20 to 60 minute sessions with promising, if not, the same or better results. A few weeks ago, I was kindly gifted a 60-minute session by the owner of Nova Teeth Whitening. After some due diligence, I was completely on board! An IG friend of my mine and her husband had done it with great success, and I learned that the laser treatments were all FDA-approved, including all the products that were also plant-based and natural. 60-minute session please!
I was so excited for my first Nova Teeth Whitening session. Matthew accompanied me there, and we were both immediately impressed by the cleanliness, warmness, and fragrant setting of the place. There was music playing in the room and Netflix on the television if we chose to watch anything. How lovely!
I received three 20-minute sessions for a total of 60 minutes of laser teeth whitening. I was comfortably sat in a chair, bib in tow, with a mouthpiece inserted to keep my teeth visibly clear for the laser, aka FDA-approved LED lights. For each 20-minute session, Vitamin E was lathered all over my teeth and lips prior to teeth whitening gel being coated over my teeth. Then, overhead LED lights were shined on my teeth for 20 minutes while I wore complimentary protective eye wear. I was completely comfortable and the process was so relaxing! To my delight, there was no saliva build-up of any kind or urges to spit during any of my three 20-minute sessions. After each session, I was given a refreshing break to rinse my mouth and resume when I was ready. I felt totally at ease with the whitening process, and I could still mumble understandable words to Matthew who sat beside me working on his iPhone while watching Netflix. At one point, I nearly fell asleep.
Teeth sensitivity from any whitening treatment totally depends on the person. In my experience, I’ve never had a major issue with teeth sensitivity whether after a professional whitening at my dentist’s office or using an at home treatment. Sometimes, I might feel some sensitivity after drinking a cold beverage right after a whitening session, but any sensitivity was always tolerable and subsided very quickly. I do, however, definitely recommend knowing your tolerance level before trying any teeth whitening treatment. To be honest, I did have some sensitivity after my laser treatment and needed to take two Advils while I slept overnight. But all sensitivity went away by the morning. That is why I previously mentioned that I painfully loved Nova Teeth Whitening. My teeth literally achieved a brilliance in just one hour that would normally take 2 months to achieve with at-home treatments. No pain, no gain!
I had a 60-minute laser treatment, but Nova Teeth Whitening also offers 30 and 45 minute sessions, which might have helped in my case to avoid any sensitivity afterwards. But I cannot argue with the results! Would I do another Nova Teeth Whitening 60-minute laser treatment? Yes, in a heartbeat!
